The SFRA written report and maps provide an understanding of flood risk from rivers, surface water and all other sources and identify the extent and severity of flood risk across our planning area. This helps us to steer development away from areas where flood risk is considered greatest and to ensure that development is undertaken in a safe, cost effective and sustainable manner. The assessment was prepared for us by specialists, JBA Consulting, with input from the Environment Agency, Yorkshire Water and United Utilities. It is an important source of information for the Craven local plan and in the determination of planning applications.

Update to detailed Map 68 for southwest Skipton, January 2025
Since the SFRA for Craven was done in 2017, flood defences have been constructed on Eller Beck, Waller Hill Beck and Ings Beck in Skipton. JBA Consulting was asked to update Map 68, which shows the area to the southwest of Skipton, to show how the new flood defences have changed the flood risk in this area. The updated detailed Map 68 and accompanying technical note are available to download below.
