The enlargement, improvement or other alteration of the dwellinghouse by the construction of dormer windows.
The Article 4 Direction remains in the statute book and should be revealed in searches. However, for practical purposes, it is superseded by the 1995 General Permitted Development Order.
Coastal district - restriction on the temporary use of land for open markets
Approved by the Secretary of State on 2 April 1976.

- much of the coastal rural area

- the use of land in excess of the areas mentioned in the subjoined table for the purpose of selling or disposing of goods therefrom.
The table:
- The use of land of an area of less than 2,025 square metres (excluding land used for car parking purposes in connection with the said use) being land to which any order made under Section 51 of the Shops Act 1950 applies on a Sunday.
- The use of land of an area of less than 1,350 square metres (excluding land used for car parking purposes in connection with the said use) on a Sunday, in any case not falling within paragraph l of this table.
- The use of land of an area of less than 9,000 square metres (excluding land used for car parking purposes in connection with the said use) on any day of the week except Sunday.
