Draft affordable housing supplementary planning document: Craven local plan

Start date: Tuesday 1 September 2020

End date: Tuesday 13 October 2020

This draft supplementary planning document (SPD), in accordance with the glossary of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) adds further detail to the policies of the development plan, specifically the Craven local plan. The need to provide this SPD was agreed at the examination of the local plan and paragraph 6.20 of the local plan’s supporting text confirms our commitment to its publication. The delivery of affordable homes for local people is an important council objective and an SPD which assists applicants in preparing and submitting policy compliant planning applications for affordable housing will contribute to this objective.

We are aware that the government is currently consulting on a fundamental reform of the planning system and some changes to the NPPF that will affect the delivery of affordable homes as well as many other matters. This does not obviate the need for us to seek to approve this draft SPD following a public consultation.

Draft conservation area appraisals

Start date: Monday 19 October 2020

End date: Monday 14 December 2020

The Craven Conservation Areas Project 2016 was undertaken by ourselves, Historic England and Alan Baxter Ltd. The project produced draft appraisals for 16 existing conservation areas and three potential new conservation areas in Craven. All 19 draft appraisals were accepted into the evidence base for the Craven local plan and we are committed to undertaking public consultation on the draft appraisals at the earliest opportunity following the local plan's adoption. We are now pleased to commence that consultation.

The consultation documents can be downloaded below and include an important overarching introduction. Each document is concise and easy to read, but in view of the total number of documents involved, the normal consultation period of four weeks has been extended to eight weeks.

Documents produced by the Craven Conservation Areas Project are in electronic format and include interactive maps. Therefore, paper copies are not available. In order to utilise the interactive maps, please download the documents onto your computer, tablet or smartphone and view them in a suitable PDF reader, such as Adobe Acrobat. The interactive maps are unlikely to work properly if you view the documents in a web browser.
