The Landscape Design Guide was approved by the former Harrogate Borough Council in March 2023 as planning guidance and is intended for use by both applicants to help them submit good quality and appropriate landscape design proposals and the planning authority to provide a basis on which to assess the acceptability of proposals when applications are made.
The Landscape Design Guide recognises the importance that we place on good landscape design as an integral factor in the creation of locally distinctive places. An holistic, landscape-led approach to design is promoted through the early involvement of specialist landscape consultants in site assessment work, the preparation of drawings and statements to meet planning requirements and detailed design.
