Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) are public documents. EIAs accompanying reports going to County Councillors for decisions are published with the committee papers on our website and are available in hard copy at the relevant meeting. To help people to find completed EIAs we also publish them in the Equality and Diversity section of our website. This will help people to see for themselves how we have paid due regard in order to meet statutory requirements.

What are you proposing to do? |
The decision has already been made to create North Yorkshire Council as the single unitary authority in the area and the direct impact of this is that there will be a reduction of the current 8 chief executives from the existing county council and district and borough councils. There will also be a reduction from 319 members across all 8 Councils to 90 members for North Yorkshire Council. |
Why are you proposing this? What are the desired outcomes? |
This is statutory process of local government reorganisation and the above is the resulting consequences of reorganisation. |
Does the proposal involve a significant commitment or removal of resources? Please give details. |
There is a significant saving in the resulting decision to create a single unitary authority. The decision has already been made and this impact assessment screening form is simply to record the impact. |
