Will I get planning permission in the Hambleton area

We welcome and encourage discussions before you make and submit your planning application.

This often helps the process along by dealing with various issues at the earliest stage and so can result in a speedier decision.

You can receive limited free guidance about submitting planning applications, fees, design and other matters face-to-face. Please visit the Civic Centre, Stone Cross, Rotary Way, Northallerton, North Yorkshire, DL6 2UU from 8.45am until 5.15pm Monday to Thursday and 8.45am until 4.45pm Friday.

The advice we give in this way will be accurate and objective but will not be based on extensive research and is therefore limited in scope. Therefore, we cannot say for definite whether your planning proposal will be approved or not.

What kind of professional advice can I get?

For comprehensive advice, including relevant legislation, government advice and planning policies. Along with detailed advice on design, layout and other matters you need to submit our pre-application enquiry online form.

You are now able to fill out the pre-planning application enquiry form and pay online to save time and to ensure your application form reaches us.

The pre-planning application enquiry fees vary according to the scale and nature of the development but in all cases our aims are to:

  • achieve better quality applications on submission
  • deliver a better service to our customers
  • reduce delays in decision-making
  • work proactively with developers and the community to support growth
  • provide the opportunity for more productive community engagement on development
  • maximise the use of the pre-application stage to resolve issues and provide solutions

Whilst we will try to provide the most comprehensive advice we can, it is not possible to cover everything that may arise in a subsequent application so all pre-application advice is given on a without prejudice basis.

Timescales

Once a pre-planning application has been validated, we aim to be in touch with the applicant within three weeks of receipt of a complete pre-application request for advice to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time and that written advice will be provided following the meeting at a time to be agreed at the meeting.
