Boccia (pronounced ‘Bot-cha’) is a fully inclusive sport (similar to Bowls) It is a target sport played indoors with soft balls thrown from a seated position. Participants throw, kick or use a ramp to propel a ball onto a court with the aim of getting closest to the ‘jack’ ball. Boccia is a paralympic sport full of skill, tactics and fun.
Boccia sessions are offered in our leisure centres on a Thursday evening at Stokesley Leisure centre and Saturday afternoon at Northallerton Leisure Centre.
Primetime is a social activity set up to offer a low intensity sports opportunity. Activities include Boccia and Kurling. Primetime sessions offer participants a range of fun challenges, whilst enjoying some friendly company.

Strong and Steady sessions are delivered by a friendly, qualified instructor and are designed to help people to become more active. They aim to reduce the risk of trips and fall, so may benefit people who are unsteady on their feet.
Sessions focus on exercise to improve strength and balance, to help participants gain more stability and confidence when walking, improving the ability to undertake everyday tasks.
Strong and Steady sessions are offered in our leisure centres on a Tuesday morning between 10.30am and 11.15am at Stokesley Leisure Centre, Tuesday afternoon between 1.00 and 1.45pm at Thirsk and Sowerby Leisure Centre (starting from 17 September), and a Thursday afternoon between 1.00 and 1.45pm and 2.00 and 2.45pm at Northallerton Leisure Centre.
Our disability football sessions offer a variety of football activities delivered in a social, supportive, and friendly environment. Sessions are welcoming and fully inclusive and are suitable for ages 8 years old and above.
Disability Football sessions take place at Northallerton Leisure Centre on a Saturday afternoon.
Multi-sports sessions are suitable for all abilities. They are fully inclusive and suitable for ages 8 years old and above. Parents, guardians, and carers are all welcome to attend to offer support to participants. Activities include Boccia, dodgeball, football, basketball, rounders cricket, handball and Kurling.

Hambleton Strollers offer people of all ages and ability the opportunity to do some physical activity and meet new people.
They're a Walking For Health group who organise weekly walks that are low impact and led by a team of trained volunteers. Walks take place in Northallerton, Stokesley, Thirsk, Bedale, Easingwold and Great Ayton.

North Yorkshire Walkers (previously Hambleton Walkers) walk each Sunday throughout the year, which is great for individuals who cannot go walking during the week.
Hikes tend to be mainly in the Yorkshire Dales, Nidderdale, North York Moors, Howardian Hills and Teesdale, but on occasions walks have included the coastal areas around Staithes, Saltburn-by the-Sea and Whitby or the Lake District.
