THE LOCAL LOTTO for the Harrogate district is a community lottery established by the former Harrogate Borough Council and now manged by North Yorkshire Council. The draws and support are run independently by lottery manager Gatherwell on behalf of the council.
The project was launched in July 2018 by a partnership between Harrogate and District Community Action, Two Ridings Community Foundation and the former Harrogate Borough Council with the aim of helping the voluntary and community sector to thrive across the district by providing an alternative fundraising source.
50 pence from every £1 ticket goes directly to the local causes chosen to be supported by the player on a monthly basis. 10 pence goes into THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate district (a community fund) which provides funding opportunity twice a year to any community groups across the district through an open grants application process.
Tickets for THE LOCAL LOTTO for the Harrogate district are being sold via the website which is live for players to select their chosen cause and their six numbers. Draws take place every Saturday. As well as a £25,000 jackpot there are also smaller weekly prizes to be won.
Since launch, over 100 groups have signed up and over £250,000 has been raised for local causes.
Local groups can sign up to be a lotto beneficiary for free.
