Hundreds of people enjoyed a free residents’ day at Scarborough Castle under a joint initiative between English Heritage and art and nature collective Wild Eye.
Anyone from the local area was able to enter the grounds of the historic castle with a proof of address and take part in activities including dolphin spotting, learning about local wildlife and listening to local authors give readings.
The castle headland is also home to the Wild Eye sculpture, We Are Only Human, which will be part of a forthcoming nature trail in the town.
Wild Eye’s trail is one of our Town Deal projects. It aims to boost the town’s nature-culture tourism economy while creating experiences that can be enjoyed throughout the year by residents.
The 5.5-kilometre trail will link the castle, Marine Drive and the Cinder Track through a series of thought-provoking artworks that connect people to the natural world.
Wild Eye is delivered by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Invisible Dust.
