North Yorkshire Council is a ‘Data Controller’ as defined by Article 4(7) of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). The public health team are collecting positive images of residents in North Yorkshire to use in a new photography exhibition planned to celebrate ageing well in October, and associated ageing well communications and publications including the public health annual report.

What personal information do we collect?

By submitting photos, you are confirming that you have consent from anyone in the image who can be recognised and that we can use their image in our media activity, photo competition and exhibition as detailed on the signup sheet.
We need to collect this information to carry out the following tasks:
- contact the winners of the photo competition
- contact competition entrants if we have any queries about their entry
- to notify you if your photo is used in the exhibition (if you have asked us to do so)
- identify the photo if the subject withdraws their consent
- use the photos in a planned exhibition, future publications and on our channels to promote positive images of ageing well in North Yorkshire
The lawful basis for collecting
- Article 6(1)(a) – Consent – consent for the photos to be shared with North Yorkshire Council on the basis that the photographer has consent from the people in the photos to be shared with and used by North Yorkshire Council in their communications including photo competition, photo exhibition and for use in communications and publications.
