Local Resilience Forums (also know as LRFs) respond to large-scale emergencies when a combined multi-agency coordination results in a more effective and efficient outcome. Any of the partner agencies can activate the LRF when it does not have enough resources themselves to deal with an emergency. All LRF partners share responsibility to develop York and North Yorkshire's ability to respond and recover from large-scale emergency situations, with support from lead government departments and agencies, local authorities, emergency services, health, utilities and communication providers, and transport companies.
