Selby publication local plan

Pre-submission publication local plan consultation from 26 August to 28 October 2022.

We held a nine-week consultation on the proposed submission documents relating to the Selby District Local Plan, from Friday 26 August to 5pm on Friday 28 October 2022. The consultation is now closed, comments received after this time will be marked as late representations and may not be taken into account by the inspector during the public examination of the plan.

The publication plan takes into account the comments we received at earlier consultation stages and these comments, along with our response, are also published on our consultation portal. The consultation portal also contains supporting documents, evidence base reports and background papers.

The pre-submission publication local plan and supporting documents, evidence base and background papers can be viewed by visiting the consultation portal.

The Pre-submission Publication Local Plan is the version of the local plan that we propose to submit to the Secretary of State for Examination. The Publication stage is a formal stage of consultation under Regulation 19 of The Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2012 (as amended).

This consultation is not an opportunity to provide further information, but instead, it presents the opportunity to comment on whether the Local Plan is "sound", and "legally compliant" and whether it complies with the "Duty to Cooperate". This consultation is therefore seeking comments on:

  • legal compliance - does the plan meet the legal and procedural requirements?
  • soundness - has the plan been positively prepared, justified, effective, and consistent with national policy?
  • duty to cooperate - has the council worked and engaged effectively with both neighbouring authorities and statutory bodies?

Please see our  frequently asked questions document (docx / 49 KB) for more information.

How do I make comments?

To submit your comments via the consultation portal you must first log in to the system. If you have not previously made comments via the consultation portal you will need to register. Registering with the system is a two-step process; please make sure you have completed both parts or you may find you cannot log in. You must complete all name and address fields for your comments to be validated. You only need to register as an 'Agent' if you are a planning agent, that is a planning professional submitting comments on behalf of landowners and/or stakeholders.

If you need help with this process please use the  online consultation guide (pdf / 304 KB).

Once you are registered on the consultation portal you will be updated on the progress as the plan goes forward.

Alternative ways of submitting comments

We encourage the use of Objective to submit representations on the Pre-Submission Publication Local Plan, but if you are having difficulties using Objective, the  representation (comment) form (docx / 105 KB) and  guidance notes (docx / 105 KB) are available to download.

Please read the guidance notes before completing your comment form. Please return your completed comment form to the localplan.sel@northyorks.gov.uk email or by post to Planning Policy Team, Selby District Council, Civic Centre, Doncaster Road, Selby YO8 9FT.

The deadline for submitted representations is 5pm on Friday 28 October 2022.

If you have any queries please contact us.
