Settlement growth monitoring

Access quarterly monitoring information relating to the delivery of the Craven local plan housing requirement.

Paragraphs 4.49 to 4.51 of the Craven local plan explain that the performance of settlements in meeting their planned levels of housing growth will be assessed and published in a live online document. This information will assist in the monitoring, management and delivery of sustainable growth in the Craven local plan area, and will help to ensure that the plan’s housing requirement is met. In particular, the information will assist in the implementation of the adopted Craven local plan Policy SP4: Spatial strategy and housing growth, criterion I a).

The information is provided every quarter on this web page.

A calculation is made for each settlement in Tiers 1 to 4 of the settlement hierarchy in the Craven local plan, which are given specific levels of planned growth by Policy SP4. The calculation compares the level of planned growth (the requirement) with the number of dwellings built since the beginning of the plan period (1 April 2012) and the number which could potentially be built on sites with planning consent or allocated for housing in the local plan (the planned supply). If the settlement’s supply is in line with or is greater than the settlement’s requirement, the settlement’s planned level of growth is being met.

Any deficit in a particular settlement does not necessarily mean that the settlement’s planned level of growth will not be achieved within the plan period, but the implications of any deficit must be considered in relevant planning decisions.

Each quarterly report gives the position at a point in time and should be read alongside the Craven local plan annual Authority Monitoring Report and Housing Trajectory, which provides further information on housing delivery in the Craven local plan area.
