The Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire has paid tribute to the dedication and service of a host of people who have been honoured in the King’s Birthday Honours.
A total of 20 people across York and North Yorkshire have been named in the list of awards which recognise the work of citizens across the UK.
The recipients locally include representatives from the charity sector, the military and business and commerce.
The Lord Lieutenant, Jo Ropner, who is the King’s representative for North Yorkshire, spoke of the huge pride that those named in the list can take from being included in the Birthday Honours.
She said: “The King’s Birthday Honours rightly recognise the efforts of those who have made a significant contribution to society.
“Those who have been honoured in North Yorkshire come from a diverse range of roles that gives an indication of how varied life is in the county.
“However, they all share an immense dedication in their chosen fields, and they should all be rightly proud to be included in the King’s Birthday Honours.”

Dames Commander of the Order of the British Empire:
- Jasvinder Kaur Sanghera CBE of Loftus. The founder of Karma Nirvana and human rights campaigner. For services to the victims of child, forced marriage and honour-based abuse.
Commanders of the Order of the British Empire:
- Elizabeth Bramall of Harrogate. Philanthropist and co-founder of The Liz and Terry Bramall Foundation. For services to charity.
- Duncan Anthony Webster OBE of Levisham, near Pickering. National leadership magistrate and chair of the Magistrates' Leadership Executive. For services to justice.
- Lesley Margaret Wild of Harrogate. Lately chair of Bettys and Taylors. For services to business and trade.
Officers of the Order of the British Empire:
- Christopher Thomas Berridge of Everingham, near York. Managing director of Paneltex. For services to business, to exports and to the environment.
- Fleur Josephine Butler of Leyburn. For services to politics and to women.
- Sally Elizabeth Light of York. Lately chief executive of the Motor Neurone Disease Association. For services to people affected by Motor Neurone Disease.
- Wendy Ruth Nichols of Selby. Former president of UNISON. For political service.
- Lieutenant Colonel (Rtd) Francis Thomas James Anthony Riley of York. Lately the director of the National Firearms Centre at the Royal Armouries. For services to military heritage.

- Jason David Carlyon of Scarborough. Community engagement lead and paramedic for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service NHS Trust. For services to cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
- Archana Rao Dannamaneni of Church Fenton, near Tadcaster. Customer compliance group at HM Revenue and Customs. For services to tax compliance.
- Helen Whittaker of Dunnington, near York. For services to the creation and conservation of stained and architectural glass art.
- Elizabeth Mary Whyte of Harrogate. Covid lead at HC-One. For services to social care.
