Allocating market pitches at Knaresborough depends on availability and what you plan to sell.

When you first attend as a trader, you will need to complete a casual trader registration form if you haven't already applied online. You will also need to provide a £5 million public liability insurance certificate, photographic ID and address details. Once everything is agreed you can start trading on the day. The markets officer will ask for payment at 8am on each day of trading. Once you trade with us on a regular basis you can become a permanent trader. The markets officer will discuss this with you and direct you to the appropriate paperwork. All permanent traders must pay by direct debit and casual traders by electronic payments.

Ripon Thursday market

Ripon market is held every Thursday from 7.30am until 3pm throughout the year, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day.

Ripon's Thursday market offers a range of essential goods such as fruit and vegetables, fresh fish, cheese, fresh eggs, homemade cakes and savoury bakes as well as locally reared meat. You can also buy ladies and gents fashion, bags and scarves, phone accessories and watch repairs, household refillable essentials, fresh flowers, plants and much more.

Ripon Saturday market

Ripon also has a smaller market every Saturday from 7.30am until 2pm throughout the year, except Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year's Day.

The Saturday market offers fruit and vegetables, locally grown plants and locally reared meat.

Harrogate farmers' market is held on every second Thursday of every month.

The farmers' markets are managed by Otley Town Partnership.

Yorkshire Farmers' Markets sell a wide range of wonderful fresh and organic produce, direct from producer and sourced as locally as possible.

There is one pitch available every week at Ripon (Thursday and Saturday) and Knaresborough (Wednesday) markets.

Organisations are permitted to bring a mixture of four or more of the following items in order to receive donations:

• second hand books

• handmade knitwear
• homemade art and crafts. (including cards)
• second hand toys
• preserves and chutneys (plus pickles)
• second hand clothing
• promotion of charity club/membership

Whitby Open Market is held on Tuesdays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the year, subject to weather conditions.

It is a small traditional market, where shoppers can find a variety of stalls including handcrafted silver jewellery, hats, clothing, antiques, art, bakery goods and hair-braiding.

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, the Market Place is occupied by café seating.

Whitby market is located in the historic Market Place in front of the prominent Grade II* Listed old Town Hall building between Sandgate and Church Street on the East Side of Whitby.

The market can be reached on foot from Whitby train and bus stations or Endeavour Wharf car park within 10 minutes and is five minutes on foot from Church Street car park.

Scarborough Market Hall and Vaults has undergone a £2.7 million refurbishment creating a fresh and modern market whilst still retaining the authentic character and feel of a traditional market in an attractive, historic building.

The refurbishment has seen the addition of a mezzanine floor and a food court with a choice of eateries along with a range of unique shops selling bespoke gifts, handmade jewellery, art, photography, honey and much more.

The main hall provides a butcher, baker, delicatessen and a choice of greengrocers as well as men and women’s clothing. The hall also has regular casual trader stalls selling a variety of products such as jewellery, slate art, crocheted blankets and art photography.

The Vaults underneath the Market Hall is a labyrinth of exciting shops with antiques, home furnishings, handmade gifts, second-hand books, collectables and much more.

As well as a shopping destination, the Market Hall is also fast becoming a cultural venue with a programme of upcoming music and events.
