Dog control Public Space Protection Order in the Filey, Scarborough and Whitby area

Let us know your views on the new dog control Public Space Protection Order (PSPO).

The dog control Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) outlines areas in which a dog must be put on a lead when directed, rules around dog fouling and any dog exclusion areas.

This is in place to help to ensure everyone can enjoy the open spaces and beaches in this part of the county and to help to protect wildlife.

Following a previous consultation in 2023 and feedback received, we have identified areas that need be reviewed.

This includes removing dog restrictions (rules around dog fouling remain) from Oliver's Mount playing fields and Tate Hill Beach, and adding Valley Road Gardens (North), Linden Close and Nightingale Drive open space.

The consultation is open until Monday 17 March. Following the consultation, the Public Space Protection Order is set to be adopted in May.
