Changes to the death certificate registration process from 9 September

From 9 September all causes of death proposed by GPs and hospital doctors will now be reviewed by NHS medical examiners. The five day statutory time frame to register a death will only start once the medical examiner issues the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death to our registration service. 

We will only be able to register a death and provide you with a death certificate and green form (for crematoriums and churches) after we have received the Medical Certificate of Cause of Death from the medical examiner.
