Market fees

At 8am on the day of trading, the markets officer will ask for payment. Casual traders can make an electronic payment.

Once you trade with us on a regular basis, you can talk to the markets officer about becoming a permanent trader and the required paperwork you will need to complete. All permanent traders must pay by Direct Debit for their pitch.

There are no charges for a charity stall which is supported by volunteers.

Trader pitch fee

The fees listed in this table are for traders using their own stalls on a pitch size of 10 feet by six feet. Vans, mobiles or self-assembles will be charged a pro-rata rate.

How many charity stalls do you have at the market?

There is one stall available every Wednesday at Knaresborough’s market for charity or local voluntary groups.

Organisations can bring four or more of the following items to their stall in order to receive donations:

  • bric-a-brac
  • handmade knitwear
  • homemade arts and crafts (including cards)
  • preserves, chutneys and pickles
  • promotion of charity/club membership
  • same day raffle
  • second-hand books
  • second-hand clothing
  • second-hand toys
  • tombola

Other products may be considered but permission will need to be granted. Please note that bakery, plants and eggs are not allowed.

As our charity stalls are very popular you can also apply for a stall by contacting us. Our customer services team will then pass your details to the markets officer.

What information do I need to provide when applying for a stall?

All market traders and those representing charities/volunteer groups will need to provide:

  • a copy of your public liability insurance certificate (this must provide cover for up to £5 million) 
  • photographic identification and address details 

After applying online you will receive a confirmation email which you will need to bring with you on the day, along with your insurance certificate.
