Residents in the Ryedale area may have up to five containers:

  1. black or green wheelie bin
  2. green recycling container
  3. black recycling container
  4. blue recycling container
  5. brown garden bin

Black and green wheelie bins or liners

A 180 litre black wheelie bin is provided to most residents for non-recyclable household waste. Smaller 140 litre bins are also available. Contact us to request a smaller bin.

We give 52 black liners per year to properties unsuitable for wheelie bins, or where residents need help putting their bins out. These liners can be used for household waste that can’t be recycled. Apply for help with putting your bin out.

Properties using black liners may be provided with a wheelie bin for storage of the black liners containing non-recyclable waste if you need it. A maximum of three liners per property will be taken at each collection.

If you have a household of five or more people or if someone in the household has a medical condition that contributes to excess waste, you can apply for a larger bin.

Batteries

Please do not place used, dead batteries in the rubbish bin or recycling as these can be crushed or punctured when the waste is collected and processed. Some battery types can ignite or explode when they are damaged and can then set fire to other materials in your waste bin.

Batteries should be recycled safely at one of the Household Waste Recycling Centres or find your local battery recycling point on the Take Charge website.
