Top trading standards tasks The work of trading standards
We rely on the thousands of consumers who make complaints about traders or their products and services to us via the Citizens Advice consumer service each year. The valuable information this gives us enables us to target our advice and other enforcement activities at the traders who are trading unfairly or unlawfully. We also work with community groups and others to protect the interests of consumers and residents, for example by setting up 'No cold calling zones'. The Citizens Advice consumer service provides advice for North Yorkshire residents and can be contacted on 08454 04 05 06 or via the Citizens Advice consumer service section of the Directgov website. We aim to ensure that the service is run with efficiency and care. We set ourselves targets for dealing with service requests and these are monitored regularly. Details of our policies and standards can be found in the document section below. If you feel that we have not achieved these standards please let us know.
