Asylum and immigration

In this section you can find out about support for asylum seekers. You can also have your application for British Citizenship checked to ensure all the paperwork is correct before the application is submitted to the Home Office.

North Yorkshire County Council provides help with accommodation and/or subsistence for those asylum seekers that are eligible for support under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999 (Interim provisions).

Nationality checking

North Yorkshire County Council works in partnership with the UK Border Agency to offer a nationality checking service. The service checks applications for British Citizenship to ensure all the paperwork is correct before the application is submitted to the Home Office.
