Minibus service

We have a fleet of wheelchair accessible minibuses which we can offer for use with one of our drivers or passenger assistants outside of our peak operating times.

We offer this service on a not-for-profit basis to other public sector organisations, certain charitable bodies, schools, other local authorities and community groups and associations. The passengers must be eligible to be carried in line with our transport permit.

Most of our work takes place between 7.30am - 10.30am and between 2.30pm - 5.30pm, so there are times during the day, on evenings and at weekends or during school holidays when we can provide our minibus services to others. Contact us below to discuss your requirements.

Benefits of using our service

Our fleet of buses can seat up to 14 passengers (or a combination of seated and wheelchair passengers) so that everyone can travel together. They are designed so that passengers who have walking difficulties or who are wheelchair users can access them safely and easily. Features include

  • access steps,
  • high visibility handrails,
  • good interior lighting,
  • room for walking frames and
  • tail lifts.

Our vehicles are maintained to the highest standard.

We've 180 drivers and passenger assistants, all of whom are trained to a high standard;

  • All staff are DBS checked to an enhanced level,
  • All drivers take practical ability tests before being appointed,
  • All drivers are MIDAS (minibus driver awareness scheme) trained and
  • All passenger assistants are PATS (passenger assistant training scheme) trained and
  • All staff complete a comprehensive induction programme including health and safety training, first aid, safeguarding and vehicle evacuation.
  • All passenger assistants are trained to help children who require extra support.

Minibus driver awareness scheme training (MIDAS)

We can provide minibus driver awareness scheme training courses to schools, community groups and certain charitable bodies.

The scheme provides both classroom-based theory training and an on-road driving assessment for all minibus drivers.

This training is provided by our driver assessor trainers.
